Composition I is a 6-hour (three 2-hr sessions) class about how to design a photograph, arranging the various picture elements in a pleasing way to help illustrate an emotion, thought, concept, or story. At the end of this class you will have a foundational understanding of design concepts and their use in photography, including the so-called “rules”. We’ll discuss the concepts of balance, symmetry, depth, rhythm, placement, and relationship. The second session is a 2-hr field trip and the last session is a review of the field trip images and an overview how to properly give and receive feedback.
At the end of this class you will know and understand the fundamentals of composition, how to assess the scene in front of you, and arrange the important elements in the scene to create a visually interesting photograph.
This class can be held in person or online. In-person, one-on-one instruction may incur a travel charge outside my local area. Please Contact Me me to discuss options and additional fees if you are outside the Boise/Meridian/Caldwell area.
